Living One Day at a Time

Updated: Apr 18, 2023

Why do we live as if life is a race? We compare, compete and focus on things that give us worries and make us doubt ourselves. Sure, we all have goals that make us hopeful and look forward to another day. But, do you also know that one of the secrets to becoming successful is also taking things slow and learning to appreciate the things you have? Sometimes the problem is that we don’t know how to be thankful. We tend to ask for more not knowing that what we prayed for is right in front of us.

We need to take it one step at a time, to live one day at a time. Because regardless of what journey you take, you will always be directed to the path where you will prosper and grow. The path that is meant for you. You need to ask yourself “what can I do to pull myself closer to my dreams, but at the same time stay grounded and connected with life?” If you are struggling to find a balance between aspirations and reality, this write-up will help you chase after your dreams and make you enjoy life!

PRACTICE GRATITUDE

  • Each morning, you have to decide that it’s going to be a great day! Yes, we hate to break it to you but having a good day does not happen by itself, but rather a decision that needs to be made the moment you wake up. We often neglect this fact but waking up to a brand new day is something we should be thankful for.

CREATE A HEALTHY MORNING ROUTINE (THAT WORKS FOR YOU)

  • Learn to accept that every person has a different routine. Do not beat yourself up if you tried a routine for the first or second time and it did not work. Remember that finding the right routine for you may take time. Here are some things you can consider adding to your morning regimen:

  • Meditation

  • Stretching

  • Writing in your journal

  • Lighting an aromatherapy candle

  • Taking a short walk if you have enough time

GO ON RETREATS

  • Going on a retreat is one way for us to reflect, unwind and clear our thoughts. You can either go with your friends or family and of course, you can go alone, granted that the place you're going to is safe. Choose a spot where it’s quiet and close to nature. A place far from the hustle and bustle of city life.

LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY

  • Never pass on the opportunity to learn something new. Continuous learning will keep your mind active and at the same time strengthen and widen your perspective in life. Learning something new is also one way for us to see if the path we are currently on is for us.

ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR BODY

  • Our body sends us signals. We tend to push ourselves to the limits because we feel like we are running out of time, or we are working hard to meet deadlines. However, rest is also a vital part of achieving one’s goal. If you are someone with big ambitions in life, you should know how to care for your biggest investment - yourself! With that said, learn to listen to your body and take a break from anything that easily wears you out.
